BECAUSE THERE IS A NATURAL STORYTELLING URGE AND ABILITY IN ALL HUMAN BEINGS: This training is open to all storytellers of any level and background - solo performers, directors, choreographers, or actors. ACT WRITE: DIRECTORS FORUM gives you access to handpicked Guest Master Artists, each with their own special expertise, who will lead interactive lessons and offer valuable insight. Anthem Salgado and the ACT WRITE Masters will walk you through: - Writing - Generating new ideas - Performing original or borrowed monologues, scenes and stories of your choosing - Exploring many exciting interpretations and possibilities - Having a lot of fun The series culminates in an "Open Process" live performance, where artists may explore their work on the stage of San Francisco Public Library's posh Koret Auditorium, in conjunction with its Smithsonian Singgalot exhibit!

Denmo Ibrahim (director, co-creator and performer in The Mandala Olive Project at DIVAfest 2005) is co-artistic director of mugwumpin, a San Francisco performance group that she co-founded. She is an actor and playwright based in San Francisco. Denmo exploded onto the Bay Area theater scene with her experimental new work Rabbit Causes Dog ("Best of Fringe", Best New Play Local", "Techies Choice Award"). She has co-created Bouge! which performed to sold out houses in Germanys' Bebersee Festival '04. Original commissions include new work for Theatre of Yugen, foolsFURY, Shotgun Players, Golden Thread, Root Division, 111 Minna Gallery, and EXIT Theatre. Most recently she appeared as Instisar at Aurora Theatre’s production of Betrayed. Denmo has been nominated for an Irene Ryan Acting Award and a Joseph Jefferson Award for “Best Actress in a Lead Role”. She is a graduate of Boston University’s Acting Program and holds an M.F.A. in Lecoq-Based: Actor Created Physical Theatre from Naropa University. She has studied commedia dell’arte with Antonio Fava at the International Stage in Italy, acrobatics with Mirco Ferri, and intensive training with Giovanni Fusetti ‘s clown pedagogy. Denmo Ibrahim has taught workshops in ensemble creation, neutral mask, and the tragic chorus.
Sean San José is a native of San Francisco and works as the Program Director of Theatre for Intersection for the Arts, their resident theatre company Campo Santo, the Erika Chong Shuch Performance Project and with the Living Word Project among the many great artists, collaborators and friends at Intersection. Their recent projects were: Fukú Americanus created from the Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz; Angry Black White Boy adapted from Adam Mansbach’s book with Felonious; and the first play of Chinaka Hodge, Mirrors In Every Corner, directed by Marc Bamuthi Joseph. Their next project in this trilogy of first plays by emerging writers begins in October with Habibi by Sharif Abu-Hamdeh, directed by Omar Metwally and will follow with the first play by musician and writer Dennis Kim (Denizen Kane)- Tree City Legends next year. As part of Intersection’s staff and as co-founder of Campo Santo, San José has overseen, developed, and helped create the first plays of Jimmy Santiago Baca, Junot Diaz, Dave Eggers, Denis Johnson, Greg Sarris, Vendela Vida , among others; while maintaining ongoing relationships with Philip Kan Gotanda, Jessica Hagedorn, Naom Iizuka, Octavio Solis, Erin Cressida Wilson, and many others including special projects with Daniel Alarcon, Richard Montoya, Ntozake Shange, and more. He and Chong Shuch recently taught a semester at the University of California at Berkeley, working with students on the Intersection + Campo Santo model of “Open Process” development and creation of new work.
